The Barrie Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance after a late-night fire caused an estimated $2 million in damages to a number of homes in Barrie.

Just before midnight on Sunday, June 9, 2019, a passerby spotted smoke and flames coming from a series of four-plex townhome units which were under construction on Edgehill Drive, just west of Ferndale Drive North in Barrie.

There were no injuries reported, however, the three four-plexes which were under construction were completely destroyed. The two homes on either side of the fire also suffered extensive damage and the two homes on either side of those homes sustained damage as well.

The cause of the fire has been determined to be suspicious, and Police are appealing to anyone who may have information, or who may have seen anything suspicious in the area on Sunday evening to contact Detective Constable D. Watson of the Barrie Police Service at 705-725-7025 ext. 2755 or [email protected].  Any information can be provided anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or leave an anonymous tip online at www.p3tips.com.

The Office of the Fire Marshal has been notified of the incident and will be conducting a parallel investigation.
