The Barrie Police Service is appealing to the public for assistance after a number of thefts were reported by a business located in the City of Barrie.

On Thursday, April 25, 2019, police attended the Sunglass Hut located within the Georgian Mall after a male suspect stole a pair of sunglasses. Further investigation revealed that this male is actually responsible for at least 2 other thefts that date back to March 15, 2019, the other being April, 22, 2019. In all three incidents, the suspect entered the store shortly after 11:00 a.m. and while staff was busy assisting other customers simply helped themselves to a pair of sunglasses and walked out of the store without paying for them. In total 3 pairs of sunglasses valued at over $1250.00 were obtained.

The suspect being sought is described as being male white, approximately 50-60 years old, 5'7" tall, 170 lbs, scruffy red/gray facial hair, wearing a navy blue baseball cap, black leather jacket, gray track pants, black running shoes with a white sole and carrying a blue cloth shopping bag from Walmart. In the most recent theft, the suspect wore very vibrant blue running shoes.
