Update – Suspect arrested for downtown bank robbery

June 3, 2019 -- An arrest has been made in the robbery that took place on May 27, 2019, at the RBC Royal Bank located at 53 Bayfield Street in Barrie.

After releasing images of the suspect, his identity was confirmed, and on Saturday, June 1, 2019, officers spotted the accused in downtown Barrie. A 47-year-old Barrie man was then arrested and charged with Robbery in relation to this occurrence.


May 28, 2019 -- The Barrie Police Service is requesting the assistance of the public with regards to a robbery investigation.

On Monday, May 27th 2019, at approximately 2:35 p.m. a male suspect entered the RBC Royal Bank located at 53 Bayfield Street in the City of Barrie. The suspect approached the teller and made a demand for cash.  No weapons were seen and an undisclosed amount of Canadian currency was obtained. The suspect fled the scene on foot. 

The suspect is described as:

  • Male, white
  • 5’10” tall with a thin build
  • Mid 20’s
  • Short, dirty-blonde hair
  • Wearing a black baseball hat with a large white logo that included a star, a red hooded sweatshirt with a large logo on the front, blue jeans, black running shoes, and large sunglasses with gold frames

The suspect was last seen leaving the bank on foot heading towards Collier Street.
