The Barrie Police Service is appealing to the public for assistance after a theft was reported in the City of Barrie.

On Friday, May 3, 2019, at approximately 5:58 p.m., two male suspects attempted to leave the Zehr’s Grocery Store located at 620 Yonge Street without paying for over $775.00 worth of groceries they had selected. The food and alcohol selected included items from virtually every department in the store and were placed in black President’s Choice reusable grocery bags. The actions of the suspects was closely observed by a Loss Prevention Officer (LPO) working in the store and when no attempt to pay for the groceries was made and the suspects simply walked out the door, the LPO approached them. The suspected shoplifting thieves quickly abandoned their shopping cart and fled to a treed area behind the store.

Surveillance video obtained clearly shows the suspects carrying out this theft and it is hoped that someone will recognize them and contact police.

Suspect #1: Male, white, approximately 25 years old, thin build, red and black hooded sweater, blue and red baseball cap.

Suspect #2: Male, white, approximately 25 years old white male, regular build, plaid red white and black jacket, red, white and black toque.
