On Wednesday December 12, 2018, a 30-year old, Special Constable with the Barrie Police Service was suspended from duty without pay after he was arrested and charged by another police service in relation to an off-duty incident that occurred on Saturday, December 8, 2018.

At the time of the incident, the now suspended member was assigned to the Court Services Unit where they had worked for the past 2 ½ years in a part-time capacity.

“We hold our members, both uniform and civilian, to the highest standards and accountability while on duty or off duty. These allegations have been investigated and are now before the court.
