Update –BMO Fraud Warning

BMO Bank of Montreal Investigations and Security Services Department has advised the Barrie Police Service that recent letters requesting updated tax related information sent to some customers was in fact legitimate.

BMO officials have confirmed that there was a miscommunication at the Branch level and efforts are underway to correct this.

The Barrie Police encourage the public to always be cautious when sharing personal information and contact the requestor if they have suspicion or are concerned in any way.

Fraud is preventable; please do your part in not becoming a victim.
