The Barrie Police Traffic Unit is investigating a fatal collision involving a pedestrian in the City of Barrie.  

On Thursday, September 6, 2018, shortly after 5:00 a.m., officers responded to a collision on Townline Road (Hwy 27) between Red Oak Drive and Mapleview Drive, West, involving a motor vehicle and a pedestrian.   

The pedestrian had been walking on the roadway when he was struck by a motor vehicle travelling southbound on Townline Road. The pedestrian, a 30-year-old man from Barrie, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The driver of the motor vehicle, a 21-year-old man from Barrie, remained on scene and police were contacted. He was not physically injured.

The investigation is ongoing.
