Barrie Police are investigating a theft of cologne from a south end drug store even after employees confronted the male suspect.

On Monday, August 27th, 2018 at approximately 4:05 pm the lone suspect entered Shoppers Drug Mart located at 420 Essa Road, in the City of Barrie. He selected two (2) colognes, placing them in a shopping basket.  He then inquired with an employee on a third type of cologne.  Upon placing this in his basket, the employee requested he pay for the items before leaving the cosmetics departed.  The suspect refused and left the area claiming to have other shopping to do.  The employee alerted a manager as his behaviour was growing increasingly suspicious. The suspect noticed the attention he was getting and swiftly left the store with the three (3) colognes in the basket.  He was last seen entering an awaiting vehicle which sped away immediately.  The male made off with a bottle of Versace Eros, Versace Pour Homme and Dolce & Cabana Men's cologne exceeding a total value of $300.00.

Suspect Description: 

  • Male, white
  • 20 to 25-years-old
  • 5'6"-5'8" and 140 lbs with thin build
  • Fair complexion
  • Brown full beard
  • Wearing a green hat and gray shirt

Suspect Vehicle:

  • 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt
  • Black 
  • Ontario licence plate CBSD 348
  • 2 bumper stickers "it is what it is" and "you must be 18 to enjoy the ride"
