SUSPECT IDENTIFIED: Fleeing Shoplifter Sought

Barrie Police have received information following the release of survelliance footage on the identity of the shoplifter from No Frills located at 165 Wellington Street West.  On Thursaday, September 27th, 2018 a warrant was sworn to for a 26-year-old Barrie male for Theft Under $5000, Escape Lawful Custody and Fail to Comply with Probation Order.

Barrie Police is looking to identify a male suspect after he fled from a Loss Prevention Officer (LPO) following his arrest outside the store.

On Tuesday, August 28th, 2018 at 1:00 pm the LPO from No Frills located at 165 Wellington Street West, in the City of Barrie, contacted police after arresting a shoplifter. The LPO was able to only provide police with video surveillance of the suspect as the male pulled away during the arrest and fled on foot.  The LPO was able to recover a bottle of Axe body spray as well as a box of cookies from the suspect’s bag and at this time investigators are unsure of other stolen items he may be in possession of.

Description:

  • Male,  white
  • 5'9” and approximately 155 pounds
  • Wearing a chain with a cross, blue mirrored sunglasses, black Under Armour T-shirt with the words “Super Elite Football”, black Michael Jordan gym shorts and flip flops
