Occurrence Type: 36-Year-Old Barrie Male Charged with Child Pornography Related Charges

On Monday, June 11th, 2018, members of the Barrie Police Service Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit arrested a 36-year-old Barrie man following a lengthy child pornography investigation.

In October of 2016, investigators received a tip concerning the uploading of child pornography, which had been uploaded from Skype.  A lengthy investigation by the Barrie Police ICE Unit, along with OPP Tech Crime, led to the execution of a search warrant and the seizure of several devices, which were forensically analysed.

The accused has been charged with:

  • Word of Child Pornography x 3
  • Distributing Child Pornography x 2
  • Sexual Interference  x 2
  • Sexual Assault x 2
  • Accessing Child Pornography

The accused male is scheduled to appear in a Barrie Court of Justice on Tuesday, June 12th, 2018 to answer to his charges.

The Barrie Police Internet Child Exploitation Unit is a partner within Ontario’s “Provincial Strategy” to protect children from Sexual Abuse and Exploitation on the internet.  This project has been made possible by a grant from the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services.
