The Barrie Police is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect following a theft.

On Monday, April 2, 2018, police were called to Walmart located at 450 Bayfield Street, in the City of Barrie, for a report of a theft. Just before 11:00 a.m. a male had entered the store and quickly selected a 40” Samsung television and bypassed all cashiers without making any attempt to pay for the item. When stopped by an employee, the male handed him a folded up blank piece of paper, with the intention of distracting the employee.

Astonishingly the suspect quickly vanished from the area, carrying the television! Although his picture was caught on video surveillance and the investigation is ongoing.

The suspect is described as:

  • Male, white (35 yrs. to 40 yrs.)
  • Heavy build
  • Brown goatee
  • Wearing a black “Oakley” hat, Aviator sunglasses, black coat, blue jeans and white running shoes.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Constable Smith at 705-725-7025, ext. 2718, rsmith@barriepolice.ca  or to remain anonymous call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), or leave a tip online at www.tipsubmit.com
