Occurrence Type: One Theft Too Many Lands Male in Jail
Occurrence #: BA18019842
Date: Sunday, April 29, 2018 - 12:45am

On Sunday, April 29th, 2018 at 12:45 pm a male walked into the LCBO at 587 Cundles Road, in the City of Barrie. He was observed selecting a 60oz bottle of vodka, concealing it in his coat, before inquiring with an employee on the inventory on a another bottle.  When his request could not be met, he left the store with the vodka still in his jacket.  This time, however, the male was recognized and someone in the store was able to provide police with his identity. Further investigation revealed he was the suspect in three (3) other thefts of liquor from the same LCBO since the middle of April and currently had six (6) outstanding warrants for his arrest.

Later that evening, just after 5:00 pm, the male suspect was spotted by a keen eyed officer outside an address on Berczy Street, in the City of Barrie.  He was placed under arrest and brought back to the Barrie Police Service for processing on the theft earlier in the day and the outstanding warrants.

The 23-year-old Barrie male was charged with four (4) counts of Theft Under $5000, one (1) count of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and two (2) counts of Breach of Recognizance along with additional charges associated with the other outstanding warrants.  The male was held at the Barrie Police Service overnight to attend bail court in Barrie on Monday morning.
