Occurrence Type: Roommate Fight Leads to Both Males Charged
Occurrence #: BA18019412
Date: Friday, April 27, 2018 - 1:10am

Barrie Police Service attended a call for service in regards to a disturbance in Barrie's south end as two male roommates had a dispute that led to a physical fight and property damage.

On Friday, April 29th, 2018 at 1:10 am officers attended an address on D'Ambrosio Drive, in the City of Barrie, after a call was made in regards to an assault in progress.  Two males were located at the residence and it appeared the fight began after an argument over money owed.  One male began throwing punches when he didn't get the answer he was looking for from the other. The struggle flipped back and forth between the two with the victim from the first assault re-initiating the fight and at one time using a hammer to assault the other.  As police arrived on scene one male was waiting outside and the smashing of property could be heard from inside the residence. The victim of the first assault entered his room with police to find his computer monitor and turn table smashed.

The 25-year-old Barrie man who initially initated the assault was charged with:

  • Assault
  • Mischief Under $5000

The 25-year-old Barrie man who re-engaged with his roommate was charged with:

  • Assault with a Weapon

Both males were charged at the Barrie Police Service and released with a list of conditions and a future court date in June.  All parties were cleared medically with minor injuries reported to police.
