** Spring Citizens Police Academy Starting May 2nd **

Registration is now CLOSED

The Barrie Police Service is pleased to announce the launch of our first ever Citizen Police Academy!

Have you ever wondered where police dogs hang out when they are off duty?  What is involved in catching a killer?  Or what your citizen’s powers of arrest would be if you witnessed a crime?

Come join us to learn the answer to these and many other common questions.  Speakers from various police units will share information in their area of expertise, including the Training, Forensic Identification, Marine, and Traffic, Fraud, K9, Homicide and Tactical units.

The Barrie Police Service will be running this eight (8) session “Citizen Police Academy” on Wednesday evenings (6:30 to 9:00 p.m.) from May 2nd, 2018 to June 20th, 2018.  The Academy will conclude with an official graduation on Wednesday June 27th, 2018.

Applicants must be 18 years of age or older, have no criminal record, and be of good moral character.  The class will be limited to 15 participants, with preference being given to applicants living in the City of Barrie. Due to the sensitive nature of the material to be presented, police checks will be completed on all applicants.

Space is limited. Interested applicants should email their contact information, along with a brief explanation of why they are interested in participating in the program to PC Julie Reynolds #6058 at citizenpoliceacademy@barriepolice.ca no later than April 10th, 2018.
