Update - Charges Laid Following Gunpoint Robbery

On Thursday, February 15, 2018, just before 12:00 p.m., a man was accosted and robbed of his vehicle at gun point outside his home on Kozlov Street, in the City of Barrie.

The two suspects, one armed with a handgun, fled the area in the victim’s pick-up truck. Within minutes of the incident being reported to police the vehicle had been observed traveling southbound on Highway 400. The vehicle was quickly stopped at the Mapleview Drive exit and the two suspects were taken into custody by police, including officers from the Canine and Tactical Support Units.

An 18-year-old Sudbury man has been charged with; Robbery, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Fail to Comply with Probation Order and numerous firearm related offences.

An 18-year-old Brampton man has been charged with; Robbery, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Carrying a Concealed Weapon and numerous firearm related offences.

Both men appeared in a Barrie bail court on Friday, February 16, 2018, and were remanded into custody. They are scheduled for a second appearance on Wednesday, February 21, 2018.

Two Arrested After Vehicle Stolen in Gunpoint Robbery

On Thursday, February 15th, 2018 at 12:00 p.m., Barrie Police Service received a call to an address on Kozlov Street, in the City of Barrie, for a report of a robbery involving a firearm.  Police learned two males approached the victim, threatening him with a firearm and stole his vehicle.  The stolen vehicle was located by police travelling southbound on Highway 400 within a minute of police receiving the call from the victim.  A high risk traffic stop was conducted on the off ramp at Mapleview Drive, in the City of Barrie. 

The male driver, an 18-year-old from Brampton, and the 18-year-old male passenger from Sudbury were arrested.  A loaded handgun that matched the description of the one used in the robbery was located inside the vehicle.  There is no threat to public safety. The investigation is continuing at this time and a complete list of charges will be determined upon conclusion of the investigation.
