Barrie Police have arrested and charged a 34-year-old Barrie man following an early morning assault at the downtown RBC, located at 53 Bayfield Street, Barrie.

On Saturday, December 16 2017, just before 6:30 a.m., an altercation between two men occurred outside RBC, which resulted in the victim being struck in the head with a folding chair. The altercation continued inside the bank vestibule, leaving a 64-year-old Barrie man with head injuries, and serious facial injuries.

The victim was transported to hospital.  Police can assure the public this was not a random attack, and that the two men are known to one another, and regular fixtures to the downtown core.

The 34-year-old Barrie man has been charged with; Aggravated Assault, Assault with a Weapon and Breach of Recognizance. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
