On Wednesday, November 8, 2017, just after 1:00 a.m., a vehicle was observed by police exiting an underground parking centre on Collier Street, in the City of Barrie, at a high rate of speed. The vehicle continued travelling in an erratic manner northbound on Clapperton Street.

Upon failing to stop for police and several stop signs, the vehicle lost control and came into contact with a parked vehicle and a house on Grove Street, East. The driver continued to evade police, fleeing the area on foot and leaving his passenger behind.

The driver was located and arrested by police a short time later at the corner of Bayfield and Coulter Street.  A 21-year-old Wasaga Beach man has been charged with; Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle, Fail to Stop for an Accident, Impaired Driving, Fail to Provide Breath Sample and Possession of a Control Substance – Schedule II.

The accused will appear in an Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie, on November 15, 2017.
