Barrie Police Service made two arrests after a suspicious vehicle was located in the area of a break and enter to a local business.

On Monday, October 23rd, 2017 at 1:40am police received a call from security at Hydro One located at 45 Sarjeant Drive, in the City of Barrie.  The security officer had been alerted by video surveillance in the area that a male had entered the premise. The suspects entered the yard and began cutting portions of the copper wiring but were spooked by officers as they arrived on scene. A K9 track was initiated which led officers to a section of fence that had been cut providing access for the suspects.  The track did not located the individuals however did locate evidence critical to the investigation.  

An abandoned vehicle was located a short distance away which police believed belonged to the suspects.  At 4:40am police were on scene with the vehicle preparing to tow it to a secure location when a male and female exited the bush area identifying the vehicle as theirs. Both suspects were arrested and during a search of the vehicle and the two individuals a quantity of marijuana as well as items connecting them to the break and enter to the Hydro One property were located.

A 27-year-old male and 26-year-old female, both of Georgina, were arrested and charged with:

  • Break and Enter
  • Possession of Break-In Instruments
  • Disguise with Intent
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance- Marijuana
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking- Marijuana

Both parties were held for bail in a Barrie Court on Tuesday to answer to their charges.
