Occurrence Type: Keen Eyed Officers Arrest Robbery Suspect
Occurrence #: BA17037291
Date: Thursday, July 27, 2017 - 10:30pm

Barrie Police Service received a hold up alarm at a local convenience store for a robbery in progress and although the suspect was not on scene when officers arrived, a keen-eyed officer spotted him shortly thereafter.

On Thursday, July 27th, 2017 at 10:30pm a male entered Mac's Convenience located at 149 Dunlop Street East, in the City of Barrie, with his hood up and a cloth covering his face.  He demanded money and cigarettes from the employee and left with a quantity of cash and cigarettes in a bag.  The store employee was not physically injured during the incident. Video surveillance was collected and the distinctive descriptors of the suspect were noted by officers working throughout the night.

At 11:54pm police observed a male matching the the suspect’s description at the entrance of the apartments located at 145 Dunlop Street West.  Police stopped to speak to the male and formed reasonable grounds to believe the male was responsible for the robbery less than two (2) hours prior.

The 24-year-old Barrie male was charged with Robbery and Disguise with Intent.  He was released on a Promise to Appear with a future court date in August to answer to his charges.
