On Wednesday, July 19, 2017, police arrested and charged a 19-year-old Barrie male after he had been caught breaking into a residence on Cundles Road and Aldergrove Circle, in the City of Barrie.

At approximately 5:30 p.m., the accused forced open the back door of a home on Cundles Road, East, and once inside he took several items from the victims’ bedroom. Upon leaving the residence the accused was confronted by a nearby neighbour, who had questioned him as to why he had been inside the home. The accused managed to deceive the neighbour and left the area on foot heading west on Cundles Road.

Approximately ten minutes later the accused entered a second home on Aldergrove Circle through an unlocked front door. The homeowners had been home at the time, but in the backyard. While inside the home the accused was located and confronted by the homeowner upstairs, which led to a physical altercation. The accused managed to flee the home through the backyard with several stolen items, leaving the homeowner with minor injuries.

Just before 6:30 p.m. police canine tracked the accused to Cundles Heights Public School, where he had been located hiding in an alcove. The accused was arrested and found to be possession of stolen property, and transported to the Barrie Police Station and is scheduled to appear in bail court Thursday morning.

The 19-year-old male has been charged with; two counts of Break and Enter, Assault with the Intent to Resist Arrest, Escape Lawful Custody, Robbery and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.
