ARRESTED: Police Seeking Males Identity

Through social media tips and further investigation the Barrie Police Service has identified the male responsible for the theft of a cell phone from a Mac's Convenience  on Thursday, July 6th, 2017.  

The suspect turned himself in to the Barrie Police Service on Friday, July 14th, 2017. The 48-year-old Barrie male has been charged with Theft Under $5000 and was released with a court date in September. 


Barrie Police are seeking the public’s assistance to identify a male following a theft that took place on Thursday, July 6, 2017, at approximately 4:00 p.m., at Mac’s Convenience, located at 149 Dunlop Street, East, in the City of Barrie.

A woman is without her cell phone after inadvertently leaving it on a shelf while inside Mac’s Convenience. Within minutes of leaving the store the victim had realized she left her cell phone behind, and when she returned her phone was gone.

Video surveillance captured a male retrieving the victim’s cell phone from where she had left it, and concealing it in his pocket then purchasing a slushy and leaving the store.

The suspect is described as;

  • Male, white (50-55 yrs.)
  • Short black/grey hair and goatee
  • Wearing glasses and a white t-shirt
